Quite a piece of art in Iluzjon

In the month to come we invite you to the Iluzjon art-cinema to Quite a piece of art  – that is two cycles, already well known to our audience: National Theatre Live, recordings of performancies of the national theatre in London - and Exhibitions on screen – a film walk among the masterpieces of famous painters.
 

 

On October 12th  and 18th the public of Iluzjon will see I – "A View from the Bridge". The play, an adaptation of the piece by Arthur Millerthe hero of our October review, is his trial to confront with „the American dream”, where the author shows the dark side of the story of happiness and career.
 

 

On October 7th and 25th, within the cycle Exhibitions on screen we will see „ and other masterpieces of the Haque Mauritshuis. We will have a close look at the famous painting by Johannes Vermeer and will try to answer the most haunting questions connected with the author and his work. Who was the girl from the painting? Why did she pose for the portrait? What is the reason why the work of art raises so many emotions?

A View from the Bridge

Eddie Carbone, a Brooklyn docker (Mark Strong playing the part, known to the Polish audience from such films as “Closer to the Moon” (Gang Rosenthala), „The Imitation Game” (Gra tajemnic) or „Sherlock Holmes”), invites cousins from Sicily to the country of freedom. When one of them falls in love with Eddie’s beautiful niece, the emigrants find out that freedom has its price. Envy and lack of trust of Eddie unveil a deeply hidden secret, that leads him to the betrayal of his convictions and rules. The performance based on the play by Arthur Miller, whose 100th birth anniversary we will celebrate in October.

The author and main producer of the event – Phil Grabsky – thanks to captivating narration, opinions of experts, visits to restorers’ studios and maximum close-ups, enables viewers all over the world to see what is usually hidden before their eyes during traditional visits to galleries or museums. The cycle “Exhibitions on screen” brings priceless masterpieces to the big screen and shows facts from the lives of the most important painters of the world.
