Obserwując poczynania Donalda Trumpa czy Harveya Weinsteina, zachodzimy w głowę – jak to wciąż możliwe? Na to frapujące pytanie odpowiedzi szuka w filmie para włoskich gejów – Gustav i Luca, przygotowujących się do ślubu. Dorastali w społeczeństwie zorientowanym na kult męskości (Włosi posiadają aż 887 słów na określenie penisa!), ale dziś zachodzą w głowę, jak wyjaśnić sekret tak długiego trwania fallocentryzmu. Donald Trump won the White House despite his openly misogynist and chauvinistic stands. The sexual abuses against women of Harvey Weinstein showed that also Hollywood has a huge sexism problem and the scandal created a worldwide outcry on social media where women under the #metoo started to describe their daily experiences with sexism. Intellectuals, feminists, activists, Democrats and even some Republicans are asking themselves: how can this be possible? There is a place in the world that could have the answers to that question. It’s Italy! Everything in the country seems to revolve around the dick. Just think. It can boast 887 nicknames of the male organ and a curious mix of dictators and latin lovers – from Casanova to Mussolini and Berlusconi – who were most definitely driven by their penises. Fed up with this phallocentric system, Gustav and Luca, directors of the award-winning doc “Italy: Love It or Leave It”, decide to find out why our societies are still so penis-driven and what holds together the so called three P: penis, power and politics. To do so, they decide to use their homeland Italy as a case-study and look into five pillars that might hold the answers to their quest: the political system, education, media, the Church and family.
